How and Why People Buy Books

I came across this great infographic from Author Marketing Club about how and why readers buy books. I was surprised by the data.

Are you upset you haven’t reached ‘best seller’ status yet? Don’t worry. According to this data, 72% of readers aren’t swayed to buy if you have ‘best seller’ on the cover. Phew!

Worried you’re not with one of the big 6? 36% of those surveyed paid no attention who the book was published by.

It really put things into perspective. I felt incompetent to other authors who were plastered all over book store shelves. In my mind, they were better than me. It really goes to show the reader runs the show.
